FA LA La la la......whatever

Ugh, the holidays. Love 'em and hate 'em. The twinkle in the kid's eyes on Christmas morning when they see their stockings filled to the top, the joy of playing games and sipping coco by the fire, the happiness and full hearts when we see our family and treasured friends together in one room; all great things. The insane holiday shopping crowds, the hectic schedules, trying to whip up homemade gifts in a hurry, rushing back to the store on Christmas Eve because you forgot something on your endless list, the dog knocking all of the ornaments off the tree trying to chase the cat; these are things I can do without.

This year is coming to a close, and I reflect back, as hard as things get sometimes, I know that I am truly blessed in my family and friends. And that is the important stuff. I hope everyone is able to look back on the year and think the same.

Here are a few new treasures we whipped up over the past couple of months.

Business is Business, and Business Must Grow...

...To quote the Onceler, yes we are biggering and biggering here at Lace & Sawdust! (Sorry, The Lorax is my daughter's favorite book and sometimes I channel fictional characters when I am sleep deprived)

But anyway...

It's exciting times on the Lace & Sawdust front. It's been a while since our last post, but we've been painting our booties off and moving into our big, luxurious new booth at 4th Street Antiques! And may I say, it looks pretty freaking fabulous!

And it's about to get even bigger! Lace & Sawdust is officially a DIY Paint vendor!!! Coming Thanksgiving weekend, we will be launching the awesome paint line from Debi's Design Diary here in the store!

November 28th, all day long, will be Old Town Temecula's Holiday Open House where many of the antique and vintage shops will be highlighting some of their favorite vendors, and yep, that's right, we will be there! Laura and I will be showing off some of our awesome creations, as well as hosting a free make-and-take for everyone to check out the new paint! Paint a frame or a sign and see for yourself how awesome this paint is!

Because you can! And because DIY chalk paint is what everyone, EVERYONE, EVERYONE NEEDS!!!!

Off to a Great Start!!

We opened our booth in 4th Street Antiques at the beginning of September!! Yay us!

We did pretty darn good for our first crack, selling $100 in awesomeness over the holiday weekend! We were really pleased how the space turned out! To say we are fond of bright colors would be an understatement!

It was surprising how much we could shove into a small space and still have it look cute and inviting! Looking forward to selling and painting and selling more!! Come and check us out in Old Town Temecula!

Windows Windows Windows!!!

Windows are the windows to your soul. I had a lot of fun these past few weeks experimenting with repurposing these old windows. Chippy paint, stencils, poems, little shelves and of course adding knobs and hooks to make them useful as well as beautiful.

Take a look!

The begining of something new & exciting!

I am beginning a new adventure and I'm super excited! Laura and I have been crossing T's and dotting I's and getting ready to begin selling our vintage décor and furniture! We are Lace & Sawdust, hence the revamped and renamed blog.

We will hopefully get started selling in Temecula, and maybe the Kensington area. We've got tons of ideas and are both really excited to dive right in.

Please follow us here and Like us on facebook!

Getting Our Antique On!

While I am neck deep in sawdust, Laura is out treasure hunting...like every day. Seriously, she has a problem. But man what an eye! She has turned her home into an art studio/vintage getaway where she can paint, collect and be inspired!

Here is just a sample of what she has...

Awesome lantern tree, I tried to sneak this into my truck when she wasn't looking, but I got caught!

Yes this is a bathroom filled with painted frames. Seriously.

Funky Trunks

We need to start selling before her house tips over!

A New Adventure on the Horizon

I've been working on building back up the inventory for my upcoming venture with my lovely Aunt Laura. We are currently looking for the right place to hang our hats and begin gracing the public with our awesomeness. So for now, we are craigslisting, garage saling, picking, buying, sanding, painting and wrapping it all up with a bow!

We came up with a name.... Lace & Sawdust! Suits us perfectly~ she is the Lace with a keen eye for the beautiful and timeless treasures that every one wants to adorn their homes with, and I am normally covered in turquoise colored Sawdust from distressing my little heart out.

Look for us in an antique store near you!

Mean-time... Here are some of my latest.

Had to do another turquoise dresser, this time with a mirror to match.

The woman I stole...I mean, bought this from says it was made in Panama in the 1930's. All mahogany. I had to keep the top unpainted, such a great looking piece of wood. I sanded down and refinished the top only and Annie Sloaned the rest with all the usual suspects. I added some new knobs of course and some wood appliques to dress it up. I'm a permanent fixture now at my local Hobby Lobby. I had this gorgeous mirror already which complemented the wood tones perfectly.

Here it is before...

I picked up this other cute little night stand and did an Annie Sloan combo of Old White and Coco, pretty cute I think.

And a cute little chippy wood window shelf. A little stenciling and a lot of sanding involved.

Gotta go clean the sawdust out of my ears now...
